Thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/statigr.am\/ishback\">Statigram<\/a> I know that I use Instagram mostly on Fridays, I publish 88% of the photos with filter and that the filter I use more is X-Pro II.<\/p>\n<p>Recently I discovered that is possible to use more than one filter on the same picture:<\/p>\n<p>1. Take a picture with instagram (or retrieve it from your Camera Roll)<\/p>\n<p>2. Apply a filter and tap\u00a0<em>Next<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>3. Wait a couple of seconds on this screen. Your picture will be saved in your Camera Roll without the need of publishing it.<\/p>\n<p>4. Press Back twice and retrieve your picture (already filtered) using the bottom-left icon. Adjust the crop, and press <em>Next<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>5. Apply the new filter and publish.<\/p>\n<p>This is an example of a picture taken from Waterloo Bridge (London), after applying two filters (Apollo and then Hefe) to combine a vignetting and the color levels:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.ishback.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/photo-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-865\" title=\"photo 3\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.ishback.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/photo-3-e1305581700635.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This serie is the original picture, only with the Apollo filter and only with Hefe filter:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.ishback.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/instagram_3-031.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-873\" title=\"instagram_3-03\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.ishback.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/instagram_3-031.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"160\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.ishback.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/instagram_3-031.jpg 480w, http:\/\/blog.ishback.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/instagram_3-031-300x100.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I wondered how a picture would look like after applying sequentially all the available filters, so I did using this picture taken at Copenhagen lakes:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.ishback.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/instagram-01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-868\" title=\"instagram-01\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.ishback.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/instagram-01.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.ishback.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/instagram-01.jpg 480w, http:\/\/blog.ishback.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/instagram-01-180x300.jpg 180w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The picture is progressively degraded, but I like how it looks in the third row for example where is still possible to guess what&#8217;s in it, and some contours are still well defined.<\/p>\n<p>This is the same process using the inverse order of the filters:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.ishback.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/instagram-02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-869\" title=\"instagram-02\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.ishback.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/instagram-02.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.ishback.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/instagram-02.jpg 480w, http:\/\/blog.ishback.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/instagram-02-180x300.jpg 180w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The last frame reminds me a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canstockphoto.com\/film-burn-fv004-hd-5632242.html\">burnt frame of a film in a projector<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Conclusion: the order of the filters DOES affect the product :)<\/p>\n<div id='social-buttons' style='width:215px;margin-top:40px;'><div id='tw-button' style='display:inline;'><a href='http:\/\/twitter.com\/share?url=http%3A%2F%2Fblog.ishback.com%2F%3Fp%3D864&count=none&related=&text=Filter%20the%20filter' class='twitter-share-button' data-text='Filter the filter' data-url='http:\/\/blog.ishback.com\/?p=864' data-counturl='http:\/\/blog.ishback.com\/?p=864' data-count='none' data-via='ishacbertran'>Tweet<\/a><\/div><div id='fb-button' style='float:right;display:inline;width:150px;'><iframe src='http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fblog.ishback.com%2F%3Fp%3D864&amp;layout=button_count&amp;show_faces=true&amp;width=350&amp;action=like&amp;colorscheme=light&amp;height=20&amp;font=lucida+grande' scrolling='no' frameborder='0' allowTransparency='true' style='border:none; overflow:hidden; width:350px; height:20px'><\/iframe><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m not a heavy user of Instagram but I enjoy its easiness &#8211; take a picture, make it look better, and share it.
